Tapestry – Your Child's Online Learning Journal

At Birchwood Nursery, we use Tapestry as our online learning journal to record and celebrate your child's learning, development and experiences throughout their time with us.

Tapestry allows us to build a picture of each child's individual learning journey through photographs, observations and examples of their work. Our Early Years practitioners use the journal to record children's interests, achievements and progress, helping us to plan meaningful experiences and activities that build on what each child already knows and can do.

Working Together with Families

We value the important role parents and carers play in their child's learning. Tapestry provides a wonderful opportunity for families to be involved in and contribute to their child's learning journey.

Parents and carers can:

• 📸 See their child's learning through photographs, observations and updates from Nursery.

• 💬 Share experiences from home, including photographs, achievements and special moments.

• 🌱 Tell us about your child's interests and experiences, helping us to understand what motivates and excites them.

• 📚 Follow their child's learning journey and see how their skills and confidence develop over time.

• ❤️ Celebrate their child's achievements with them and talk about their experiences at Nursery.

Keeping Parents Informed

We also use Tapestry to share important information about our curriculum. At the beginning of each new core book, parents and carers receive an overview of the learning taking place in Nursery. This includes the core book, key vocabulary, associated texts, songs and rhymes, as well as information about the small-group activities children will be taking part in.

We also provide suggestions for activities and experiences that families can enjoy at home, helping parents and carers to extend and support their child's learning beyond Nursery.

A Shared Learning Journey

Tapestry helps us to create a strong connection between home and Nursery, ensuring that parents and carers have a window into their child's experiences and learning.
