Inclusion
At Birchwood we provide our children with exciting and varied activities in order that they receive the highest quality education regardless of their differences (e.g. age, race, ethnic beliefs, special needs or disability).
We have hard working and caring staff who are committed to the inclusion of those children recognised as having Special Educational Needs or Disabilities. Activities and tasks that the children take part in are chosen carefully and tailored to fit individual children’s needs.
SEN Code of Practice
The school follows the statutory guidance contained in the SEN Code of Practice, January 2015. The Code of Practice explains that:
- A child has special educational needs if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them.
- A child has a learning difficulty or disability if they have significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or has a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of the educational facilities provided for children of the same age in schools.
SEND Code of practice: 0 to 25 Years
Birchwood’s SENDCo is Mrs. Jo Riddle.
If you have any concerns, queries or ideas please contact Jo at the Nursery to make an appointment. Your child’s key person will also be happy to discuss any concerns you may have.
